A meeting was held at 18 Bank Buildings on February 13th., to consider the question of private nursing this Colony. The following persons were present:-

Dr. Stedman was asked to take the chair.

The following resolutions were put to
the Mesting and carried unanimously:-
1. That this Meeting deans it essential that Nurses available for the Community should be procured from home,
2. That the Chairman be empowered to write to the Govern-
ment of the Colony, and ask the following questions:-
A. Do the Government intend to replace the two private nurses now here, whose services will shortly cease to be available for the Community ?
3. Will the Government inform this Committee what the annual expenditure has been in maintaining these two Nurses since they have been here ?

That has been the annual amount earned by the 2 private Nurses, since they have been here ? and during what periods have they been employed ?
D. Is there any money available, from the
Jubilee Hospital Funds, for a Nursing Institute ?
I may add that it is the intention of this preliminary Meeting, when certain requisite information has been gathered, to call a general meeting of all persons likely to employ private Nurses, and if necessary, to collect subscriptions to form a guarantee fund, and appoint a permanent Committee to deal with the matter. The Meeting would therefore ask the Government to answer the above questions as soon as possible.
